Last month, SEGA and CoroCoro Comic announced a new manga series titled Sonic and the Blade of Courage, set to launch this June. Now, Sonic Channel has revealed a major detail about the story: the introduction of an original human character who appears to play a significant role alongside Sonic.

This is not Chris Thorndyke or any returning character, but a completely new figure. While details remain scarce, a promotional banner shows Sonic standing beside this mysterious human, suggesting a key role in the narrative. SEGA is keeping plot and character information tightly under wraps to preserve the surprise for readers.

We do not yet know the character’s name, background, or role, but their presence in in this promotional banner confirms they will be central to the story. Whether they are a companion, a rival, or something entirely different is still unknown.

The manga is written and illustrated by Yuuki Imada, who previously worked on the Shadow the Hedgehog manga published last year by CoroCoro Comic to support Sonic X Shadow Generations. That series received praise for its dynamic artwork and compelling storytelling, adding to the excitement for this new project.

Sonic and the Blade of Courage will begin serialization on June 15 in the July 2025 issue of CoroCoro Comic.
