Sega has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog will serve as the official promotional ambassador for the 2025 8th WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, to be held in Tainan, Taiwan.
The WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup is an international tournament organized biennially by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), featuring national teams made up of players aged 11 to 12. The event highlights the values of international friendship and sportsmanship through baseball.
Sonic made an appearance during the press conference for Taiwan’s national team selection tournament on May 12, helping to build excitement for the upcoming event. According to the WBSC, Sonic was chosen for this role because “his unwavering courage, intelligence, and commitment to friendship reflect the core values of the tournament.”
As promotional ambassador, Sonic will appear at official events, in advertisements, and on original merchandise, bringing extra energy and engagement to the tournament for fans of all ages.
