Concept artis Marcin Rubinkowski has recently updated his ArtStation portfolio, showcasing a treasure trove of never-before-seen pre-production artwork for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie. These visuals provide a glimpse into the film’s early development, offering fans a closer look at Dr. Robotnik’s Crab mech, the Eclipse Cannon, and Shadow the Hedgehog’s escape sequence.

The concept art above highlights several interpretations of Shadow’s breakout from Prison Island. Various angles explore the atmosphere of his escape, with scenes capturing Shadow standing against the backdrop of Tokyo Bay. The artists experimented with different horizons and lighting effects to create the most visually arresting depiction of Sonic’s dark counterpart.

The artist also shared some concept art of the movie’s version of the Eclipse Cannon. The artwork details the massive doomsday weapon, from its closed form to sequences where it unleashes its destructive power.

Another gallery shared by the artist focuses on the interior design of Dr. Robotnik’s Crab base vehicle. The concept art includes everything from Robotnik’s main command center to detailed overhead layouts, drone storage areas, and more. Some images even depict a trashed version of the base, complete with a despondent Robotnik lounging amidst the wreckage, accompanied by humorous touches like telenovelas playing in the background.
