SEGA Store Osaka is preparing to open its doors with an entire package of Sonic exclusives, including a new monochrome collectible, specially commissioned Osaka artwork and limited bonuses for early visitors.
The new flagship store opens on October 2 on the sixth floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO, marking SEGA’s first flagship retail location in Japan’s Kansai region. Sonic will also appear at the store for greeting events on October 2 and October 3.
Leading the Sonic lineup is the Sonic the Hedgehog × Kosuke Kawamura SEGA Store Exclusive Toy (Monochrome), a new version of the artist’s collage-inspired Sonic collectible created to commemorate the Osaka opening.
Kawamura’s design incorporates the shredder-art and collage techniques for which the Japanese artist is known, breaking Sonic’s familiar appearance into layered strips and fragmented shapes. The new monochrome colorway will be exclusive to SEGA Store Osaka and is priced at ¥3,960 including tax.
Another exclusive uses completely new artwork created for the Osaka store. The Sonic the Hedgehog SEGA Store Osaka Exclusive Shopping Bag depicts Sonic and his friends enjoying local food in a busy Osaka street scene, with the Tsūtenkaku tower visible in the background.
The location-specific design was commissioned to celebrate the store’s opening and will only be available at SEGA Store Osaka. The bag is priced at ¥1,100 including tax.
These paid items are separate from the opening bonuses being offered to customers from October 2.
Anyone spending at least ¥3,300 including tax can choose one limited glitter sticker design, with Sonic, Like a Dragon and Atlus options available. Customers spending ¥5,500 or more will also receive their choice of an original shopping bag featuring one of the same three brands.
Purchases above the ¥5,500 threshold qualify for both the sticker and the bag. Each customer can receive one of each bonus per day, while supplies last.
The bonuses are exclusive to the Osaka location. Purchases from SEGA Store Tokyo and the SEGA Store Online shop will not qualify.
A chrome Super Sonic BE@RBRICK will also be among the featured Sonic products available through SEGA Store. The set includes 100% and 400% figures and is priced at ¥25,080 including tax, although it is a wider SEGA Store exclusive rather than an Osaka-only release.
Visitors arriving during the opening weekend may also get to meet Sonic himself. The character will appear for greeting sessions on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3, although SEGA has not yet announced individual session times or participation details.
The store itself will use adjustable lighting and a large transparent double-sided LED display to showcase SEGA and Atlus properties. A dedicated Atlus area will also sit at the centre of the sales floor.
SEGA Store Osaka opens October 2 on the sixth floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO at 1-8-3 Shinsaibashisuji, Chuo Ward, Osaka. Its standard opening hours are scheduled for 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
