SEGA has announced that the free Captain Majima Content Drop for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available on Wednesday, April 29 at 5:00 PM PT.

The update adds Goro Majima, appearing as Captain Majima, as a new playable character in the crossover racing title. He will arrive alongside his vehicle, the Goromaru, as well as special emotes and sounds.

The free Captain Majima Content Drop will be available to players who own either the Standard Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, whether physical or digital. Players will need to update the game to the latest version to access the new content properly.

To mark the release, SEGA will also host a Captain Majima Festival beginning Thursday, April 30 at 5:00 PM PT and running until Sunday, May 3 at 4:59 PM PT. During the event, players will be able to earn Festival Points and unlock rewards such as decals, gadgets, and more.

New players will also have a chance to try the game during the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Steam Free Weekend. The free weekend begins Thursday, April 30 at 10:00 AM PT and runs through Monday, May 4 at 10:00 AM PT.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will also be featured in SEGA’s Steam Golden Week Sale, running from Thursday, April 23 at 10:00 AM PT through Thursday, May 7 at 10:00 AM PT. During the sale, players can pick up the game at 40% off.

The Captain Majima Content Drop continues Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds’ run of free crossover additions, following other post-launch content drops that have expanded the roster, vehicles, and event lineup.

SEGA has shared additional details through its Japanese announcement, confirming more content included with the free Captain Majima update.

Alongside Goro Majima as Captain Majima and the Goromaru vehicle, the update will add four Like a Dragon series tracks to the Jukebox:

  • “Receive You The Hyperactive”
  • “Receive You The Hyperactive 【for Final Lap】”
  • “Mad Dog”
  • “Now or Never”

“Mad Dog” and “Now or Never” cannot be set as race BGM.

New renders of Goro Majima and his Goromaru have also been released.

More screenshots of Goro Majima in action were released as well, showing the Like a Dragon crossover racer on the track.

The Japanese announcement also provides additional details on the Captain Majima Festival. The event will be held in Japan from May 1 at 9:00 AM JST through May 4 at 8:59 AM JST, matching the previously announced April 30 to May 3 PT window. During the event, players will compete in online races split between three teams, earning points through race placements and special festival rules such as Touch Dash challenges.

Festival Points can be exchanged for collaboration-themed rewards, including stickers and horns. Some festival gadgets may be distributed again in future live updates, and festival rewards may also become available through other means later.

SEGA has also confirmed additional sale details for Japan. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is currently discounted on PlayStation Store until May 6 and on the Nintendo eShop until May 11. This is in addition to the previously announced Steam Golden Week Sale, which runs until May 7 at 10:00 AM PT.

The Steam Free Weekend has also been detailed for Japan, where it will run from May 1 at 2:00 AM JST through May 5 at 2:00 AM JST. Players will be able to try the full Steam version during the free play period, and save data created during the event can be carried over if they purchase the full game later.
