The spirit of Sonic lives on in the indie scene once again. As part of this year’s SAGE 2025 event, Brazilian developer Pedro “PVic” Victor has released the first-ever PC demo for Artius, a momentum-based 2D platformer inspired by Pizza Tower, Antonblast, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
The demo features one full stage — complete with three acts and a tutorial — and lets players take control of four heroes: Pierre, René, Walter, and Guga. Together, they smash, kick, and slam their way through the vibrant city of Rupestrine, showcasing fast-paced and chaotic gameplay reminiscent of Sonic’s classic adventures.
Artius follows a group of art academy students who inherit magical powers from a legendary art book. Their celebration is cut short when a rival student named Pivolo steals the book, unleashing chaos across the city. The heroes must team up to stop his creations and restore balance.

According to PVic, the project aims to capture the thrill of “fast-paced 2D platformers” while incorporating creativity-driven gameplay and cozy hub world exploration. Though still in its pre-alpha stage, Artius already impresses with its energetic GBA-style visuals, expressive animations, and high-speed flow.
While no platforms or release date have been confirmed, players can download the demo now on GameJolt.
