“The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog” came as an unexpected but delightful surprise from SEGA. As an early April Fools’ joke, the free visual novel quickly captured the hearts of many fans who sought to uncover the culprit behind Sonic’s murder during Amy Rose’s birthday party.

Yesterday, Sonic the Hedgehog’s social media manager, Katie Chrozanowski, shared on Twitter that the game had surpassed one million downloads just five days after its release. The game also holds an overwhelmingly positive score on its Steam page, with 98% of 11,718 reviews being positive, making it the highest-rated Sonic game on the platform.

If you haven’t played the game yet, it’s free on Steam, so give it a try! If you have played it, let us know your thoughts below.
