SEGA has officially launched Legend Competition Round 3 in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, introducing a new round of high-level competition aimed at the game’s most skilled racers!

The limited-time event began March 5 at 7:00 PM ET and will run through March 15 at 6:59 PM ET, giving elite players a fresh opportunity to climb the competitive ladder and push toward the prestigious Emerald Grade, the highest rank available in the mode.
Legend Competition is designed specifically for advanced competitors. Only players who have reached LEGEND 9 or higher in World Match are eligible to enter. Participants can also earn special achievement titles depending on their performance during the event.
For Round 3, racers begin with a starting grade based on the rank they achieved at the end of Round 2. This system helps ensure competitors are paired with players of similar skill levels from the start.

SEGA has also introduced matchmaking adjustments to improve race balance. The acceptable rating range for matchmaking has been narrowed to reduce large skill gaps between racers. At the same time, matchmaking wait times may be slightly longer in order to prioritize more evenly matched races.

Changes have also been made to the rating system for Bronze and Silver tiers. A lower limit has been placed on rating decreases, helping prevent steep drops and making progression toward higher ranks more manageable for players working their way up the competitive ladder.
Round 3 introduces a special rule centered around EX Gadgets. In addition to the gadgets equipped through their own gadget plates, all racers will automatically receive an additional shared gadget during races. This round’s featured EX Gadget was selected through a community vote on the official Sonic Racing social channels, with Quick Recovery chosen by players.
Competitors who perform well during the event can earn Donpa Tickets, with rewards reaching up to 1,000 tickets depending on the final grade achieved.
Alongside the competition, SEGA has confirmed that the game is also participating in Xbox Free Play Days, allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members to play the full game from March 5 through March 8. During the same period, the Standard Edition of the game is available on Xbox with a 40% discount as part of the Xbox Best Rated Sale.

For players looking to practice before jumping into ranked play, a demo version of the game is currently available across supported platforms. The demo includes modes such as Grand Prix and Time Trial, along with machine customization and gadget experimentation. Progress made in the demo can be transferred to the full version after purchase.
With Legend Competition Round 3 now underway and balance adjustments in place, the race toward Emerald Grade is officially back on!
