Sonic Rumble is about to get absolutely enormous.
SEGA has announced a major crossover event that brings the King of Monsters, Godzilla, into Dr. Eggman’s Toy World starting December 22. The limited time event introduces a brand new stage and a full lineup of Kaiju themed unlocks, with the new level available for just one month.
The centerpiece of the crossover is a new stage called Godzilla Survival. The premise is pure chaos. Players fight to stay alive across up to three boats drifting in the open ocean while Godzilla applies constant pressure. You will need to dodge the Heat Ray, watch out for lurking Shockirus and keep your footing at all times, since each player only gets one respawn. Survival is the goal, and mistakes are costly.
The event also introduces several legendary monsters as playable characters and buddies, each bringing their own abilities into the action.
On the free pass, players can unlock Godzilla equipped with the powerful Heat Ray skill, along with Fire Rodan as a buddy. The premium pass expands the roster even further, adding a second Godzilla skill called Nuclear Pulse, King Ghidorah with his Gravity Beams, and Mothra as an additional buddy.
For players who prefer the shop route, the Red Star Ring Shop will offer even more Kaiju. Mechagodzilla joins the lineup with the Absolute Zero blast, while Destoroyah arrives wielding the Variable Slicer.
Sonic Rumble has leaned heavily into fast, chaotic fun since launch, but this crossover is clearly aiming for pure spectacle. Sonic’s trademark speed colliding with Kaiju scale destruction makes for one of the game’s boldest events yet.
The Godzilla crossover begins December 22. If you want to test Sonic speed against the King of Monsters, you will want to jump in before the stage disappears.
