Paramount’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is set to introduce Amy Rose to the movie universe for the first time. The fan favorite pink hedgehog was briefly teased in the post credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, appearing alongside the newly introduced Metal Sonic. With the next film arriving in 2027, early casting developments are already starting to surface.
According to a report from insider Daniel Richtman, Paramount wants an A-list actress to voice Amy Rose in Sonic 4. The post did not include any specific candidates, but the requirement suggests that the studio is aiming for someone with major name recognition. This approach aligns with previous casting choices in the Sonic film series. Paramount and SEGA have already recruited major Hollywood talent for key roles, including Idris Elba as Knuckles and Keanu Reeves as Shadow.
What remains uncertain is whether Paramount will continue its mixed strategy of casting both celebrity actors and established Sonic voice talent. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Tails was voiced by longtime game actress Colleen O’Shaughnessey, making her the first legacy Sonic voice actor to reprise a role in the movie series. Amy Rose has been voiced by three different actors across games and television: Cindy Robinson, Lisa Ortiz, and Shannon Chan Kent. Richtman’s report suggests that Paramount may be preparing to introduce someone entirely new for Amy’s cinematic debut.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled to hit theaters on March 19 2027, with Jeff Fowler returning as director and Ben Schwartz once again voicing Sonic. Story details for the fourth film remain under wraps, and Paramount has not commented on Richtman’s report or announced any official casting so far.
