Ichiban Kasuga Joins Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds in Free Crossover Update

SEGA has officially released the free Ichiban Kasuga content update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, introducing the charismatic hero from Yakuza: Like a Dragon as a playable racer. Players can now hit the track as Ichiban Kasuga, complete with his signature vehicle, the Dragon Brave, along with new emotes, sound effects, and two Yakuza-inspired tracks added to the in-game jukebox.

The update is available starting today, November 6, 2025, across all platforms. Players who own either the Standard (physical or digital) or Digital Deluxe editions of the game will automatically receive the new content after installing the latest patch.

To celebrate the crossover, SEGA has released a special video featuring Kazuhiro Nakaya, the voice of Ichiban Kasuga, playing the new content. Fans can watch Nakaya take Ichiban and his Dragon Brave racer for a high-speed spin in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on SEGA’s official YouTube channel.

The update also adds two songs from Yakuza to the jukebox:

• “Asphodelos”
• “Brave Trail” (not available as race BGM)

In addition, SEGA will host a special time-limited collaboration event, the Yakuza Ichiban Kasuga Festival, from November 7 to November 10 (JST). The event pits three online teams against each other in competitive races where players can earn Festival Points and climb the rankings. Participants can unlock exclusive Yakuza-themed items such as stickers, horns, and gadgets to customize their vehicles.

Please note that Festival rewards cannot be re-obtained if save data is deleted, and certain gadgets will be distributed in future updates.

SEGA also confirmed that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds continues to perform strongly, maintaining an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam and a user score above 9.0 on Metacritic (as of November 6). A free demo is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games, allowing players to try Grand Prix and Time Trial modes with full customization features. Save data from the demo carries over to the full game.
