During this year’s Brasil Game Show, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka took part in a Q&A session where he discussed the future of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and its characters.
When asked by an audience member who noted that while Sonic games have featured Brazilian Portuguese subtitles since Sonic Frontiers, they still lack a full dub, Iizuka was questioned about the possibility of introducing full Brazilian Portuguese voice acting in future titles.
“In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds this time, we’ve added Brazilian Portuguese text support, so I think fans in Brazil will be pleased,” Iizuka said. “As for the voices, I want to approach that very carefully. Everyone is used to Sonic’s voice, and if we switch to a new, different voice actor, I think it would feel strange. So we’re being cautious right now about adding more voice options.”
In the same Q&A, Iizuka also commented on the possibility of future character-themed years similar to last year’s “Year of Shadow.” You can read more about that here.
