SEGA has announced the launch of a new community initiative titled “Gifts from Sonic ~ Let’s Be Friends with Sonic ~”, a project dedicated to supporting children’s growth and brightening their after-school environments across Japan’s Kanto region.

Through this project, SEGA aims to bring smiles and inspiration to children by delivering Sonic-related gifts—including comics and exclusive merchandise—to local after-school facilities. The initiative represents SEGA’s ongoing commitment to enriching society through entertainment while strengthening its connections with local communities in partnership with organizations that share the same vision.
The first phase of the project distributed Sonic gifts to 57 facilities, including ProSchool, a programming school for preschool and elementary students, and Kids Base Camp, an after-school program operated by the Tokyu Group. On October 1, Sonic himself made a surprise appearance at the Kids Base Camp Gotanda–Osaki location, where he personally handed out presents to the children.
SEGA has long supported children through initiatives featuring Sonic the Hedgehog, one of the company’s most beloved global icons. Since December 2024, SEGA has collaborated with Tokyo Jikei University Hospital’s Maternal and Child Medical Center to create a welcoming space decorated with Sonic and other SEGA characters, helping young patients feel calm and engaged while waiting for treatment. Similarly, SEGA Europe contributed to renovating a teen relaxation room inside a London hospital, decorating its walls with character art and providing games and books to make the space more enjoyable.
In September 2025, SEGA also launched the SONIC’S RISING ATHLETES project, encouraging and supporting young athletes to pursue their dreams. Through this initiative, SEGA hopes to nurture children’s courage to take on challenges and their resilience to overcome obstacles by engaging them through sports.
The “Gifts from Sonic” project embodies Sonic’s caring and courageous spirit—helping others in need and always moving forward with determination. SEGA hopes these efforts inspire children to find that same strength within themselves, and the company plans to continue expanding similar initiatives in the future.
