With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 performing well and a fourth film already scheduled for 2027, the studio is reportedly looking into spinoff features to expand the universe even further. As reported by The Wrap, Paramount is now eyeing standalone features that delve into stories beyond Sonic’s central narrative. It makes perfect sense considering how characters like Knuckles and Shadow have captured audience attention. The Knuckles TV series premiered last year on Paramount+, and with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 introducing Shadow in a major way, he’s a strong candidate for a future solo film. The same goes for Tails, Amy, or even Eggman—especially with Jim Carrey’s continued enthusiasm for the role.

The current boom in video game adaptations isn’t limited to Sonic. The Minecraft Movie recently crossed $720 million worldwide in just a few weeks, and The Super Mario Bros.
