This exciting announcement coincides with the highly anticipated debut of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is projected to dominate the box office with an estimated $55–$60 million opening weekend from 3,800 theaters across North America. Internationally, the third film will premiere in 52 markets on Christmas Day, further solidifying its global appeal.
The Sonic franchise has become a key success story for Paramount, with the first two films earning a combined $725.2 million worldwide and generating over $180 million in home entertainment revenue. Early critical praise for Sonic the Hedgehog 3—currently boasting an impressive 87% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes—underscores the series’ enduring popularity. Jeff Fowler, who directed the first three films, is expected to return for the fourth installment, although official confirmation is still pending.
