Amazing Sonic Movie 3 Press Kit Comes With Playable SEGA Genesis Cartridge and New Trailer Date Announcement

The folks at Paramount Pictures have sent some United States-based influencers a truly special surprise—a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 press kit! But this isn’t just any press kit; it comes in the shape of the iconic Item Boxes from the original game in the series. Inside, there’s a special Sonic the Hedgehog 3 SEGA Genesis case, complete with a fully functional game cartridge compatible with original hardware.

The cartridge contains a unique experience: a collection of character posters featuring voice lines for each character, along with the posters released so far—all presented with that classic 16-bit SEGA Genesis crunch! Additionally, there’s a special minigame where you play as Sonic, racing to escape from Shadow on his motorcycle. While the gameplay is simple—limited to strafing side to side, jumping, and with no apparent win condition—entering a special cheat code reveals a delightful Easter egg.

After inputting the code (or waiting long enough), the screen fades to black, unlocking a new “Trailer?” option in the main menu. Selecting it reveals an emblem from Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, followed by the release date for the next trailer: Monday, November 25th!

The game was developed by Brielle Garcia with music composed by Nick Lutsko.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to release on December 20th in the United States, December 26th in Europe, and December 27th in Japan.
