The original Sonic the Hedgehog games have been re-released countless times across bundles and collections, making them playable on nearly every modern platform. But even if you played them on the original hardware, you have never experienced them quite like this — on a Sonic-themed mini arcade cabinet.

First revealed at CES 2025, My Arcade’s Sonic the Hedgehog Joystick Player has finally resurfaced. The compact cabinet, featuring both Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, briefly appeared for pre-order on Amazon this week at a price of $59.99. The listing disappeared quickly, hinting that wider pre-orders may be just around the corner.

The Joystick Player uses a joystick and three-button panel. Its cabinet design is covered in bright Sonic artwork, making it look right at home in Green Hill Zone, complete with Sega branding and bold character illustrations.

While the system was first shown nearly a year ago, no firm release date has been announced. My Arcade’s official website only teases Sonic alongside other Sega franchises like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage, suggesting that this could be part of a broader retro mini-arcade lineup.

For now, the Joystick Player includes just the first two Sonic titles, but given their legendary status, that is hardly a drawback. And with Sega and My Arcade’s collaboration seemingly just beginning, there is always the possibility of a future cabinet featuring Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
