Kess Entertainment brought a unique expansion for its push-your-luck dice game Sonic Roll to Gen Con 2025. The addition introduces a blank character card, giving players the chance to create their own character by filling in the art and name while using pre-set abilities designed to suit a variety of playstyles.
The special card was offered as a premium print at Gen Con (Booth #521) for $5 or free with the purchase of Sonic Roll. While the game remains exclusive to North America for now, Kess confirmed that a UK release is planned for September. Players who couldn’t attend the convention can also access a printable version through the official Kess Entertainment Discord. More convention appearances, including PAX Unplugged, are planned for later this year.
The customizable card’s abilities are versatile, letting players negate bad dice rolls, stockpile yellow and red dice, or select any three dice each turn while gaining a Speed Shoe bonus.
Originally released in 2023, Sonic Roll quickly stood out as a stylish, challenging dice game featuring classic pixel art and campaign play. It supports up to four players but also offers a strong single-player experience, making it a favorite among dedicated Sonic tabletop fans.
Kess Entertainment’s Sonic Roll is currently available through Amazon, Target, Barnes & Noble, and at conventions.
