Those attending Anime Expo this Friday were treated to an exciting teaser for an upcoming animated short based on Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. In a follow-up social media post, SEGA confirmed that the full animation will be released this September.

The teaser features Sonic and Shadow racing through a high-speed industrial course, reminiscent of Turbine Loop from earlier titles. With intense visual flair, the short appears to draw major inspiration from the cult classic anime Redline, particularly in its use of wide-lens zoom-ins and dynamic motion.

This marks the latest in a series of animation tie-ins for major Sonic console games, following the successful campaigns for Sonic Frontiers Prologue: Divergence and Sonic Mania Adventures. Once again, the animation is being produced by SIMAGE Animation and Studio GIGGEX, the same studios behind last year’s critically praised Dark Beginnings prologue shorts for Sonic x Shadow Generations.

The teaser suggests a high-energy, visually rich short that expands the world of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds beyond the game itself—continuing SEGA’s commitment to transmedia storytelling and engaging fans across formats.

Stay tuned to Sonic City for more News and Updates on Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and its animated content.
