Hot on the heels of Sonic’s birthday celebrations, the team behind the acclaimed fan-made fighting game Sonic Smackdown has officially launched a full-fledged sequel: Ultimate Sonic Smackdown. A brand-new trailer showcases the game’s major additions, including fast-paced 3 versus 3 tag team battles and rollback netcode for smoother online matchmaking.
Ultimate Sonic Smackdown is now available in early access with a playable roster that includes Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, Mecha Sonic Mk. II, and Dr. Eggman, who enters the fray piloting a newly designed combat mech. Players can dive into online matches or test out the upgraded combat mechanics in solo play.
As with any early access release, the game is still a work in progress, and bugs may occur. The development team encourages players to report issues and share feedback via the official Ultimate Sonic Smackdown Discord server.
Both the game download and Discord links are now live for those eager to jump into the action.
