Character Designs

Archie Comics

  • Frost Legion Troopers
  • Flame Legion Troopers

Rejected/Discarded Work

Archie Comics

  • Numerous character concept sketches were developed for the “Return to Angel Island” storyline covered in Sonic the Hedgehog #138-#141. These sketches encompassed designs for characters like Lien-Da, Lara-Le, Wynmacher, Kneecaps, Remington, and an early rendition of Dr. Finitevus featuring a third eye.
  • Original designs were produced for the Battle Bird Armada and Bean the Dynamite. As these designs took shape, certain aspects from the former were integrated into the Armada’s overall appearance when they made their first appearance in Sonic Universe #17-#20.

Trivia

  • Gray has expressed that he holds a particular distaste for a specific piece of his work within the Archie Comics series. He cites the “Home: Epilogue” as his least favorite due to his involvement in illustrating the infamous scene where Sally slaps Sonic.
