Limited Run Games has issued a public apology to the Sonic community following quality complaints surrounding the Sonic and Shadow Dreamcast statue included with the Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition.

In a statement addressed to fans, the company acknowledged that the statue included with some shipments did not meet the expected quality standards. Limited Run Games stated that the product fell short of both fan expectations and the company’s own internal standards, describing the statue’s quality as “not acceptable.”

The company added that fans who felt disappointed or frustrated with the collectible had every right to feel that way.

As a result, all additional shipments of the Collector’s Edition have been paused immediately while the company re-enters a new production cycle to remake the statue. The revised version is intended to meet the level of quality expected from a premium collector’s release.

Limited Run Games also confirmed that customers who have already received their Collector’s Edition will be contacted directly. Within the next seven days, affected buyers will receive an email outlining the available options.

According to the company, those options will include:

  • A no-cost replacement statue once the updated version has completed production
  • A refund option for customers who prefer not to wait for the replacement

The company also noted that new leadership is working to improve quality control for future releases. As part of this effort, Limited Run Games has launched a public production blog where fans can track updates on the statue remake and the manufacturing process.

The Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition was released as a premium package for fans of the modern Sonic title, which celebrates the legacy of Sonic the Hedgehog and Shadow the Hedgehog through remastered levels and new content.

The Dreamcast-inspired statue was designed to serve as the centerpiece collectible for the edition. With shipments now paused and a replacement program underway, fans waiting for the collector’s item will need to wait for the revised production cycle to be completed.
