A new wave of Sonic movie merchandise is on the way! JAKKS Pacific and SEGA have announced a multi-year global partnership tied to Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the upcoming Paramount Pictures release scheduled to hit theaters on March 19, 2027.
Under the agreement, JAKKS Pacific will design, develop, and manufacture a wide range of licensed products based on the film. Planned items include action figures, plush toys, playsets, role-play gear, costumes, and costume accessories, all scheduled to launch globally in early 2027 ahead of the movie’s theatrical release.
The toy line builds on JAKKS Pacific’s long-running relationship with the Sonic franchise. The company has already produced numerous Sonic products over the years, including action figures and collectibles that have become popular among fans and collectors.
Stephen G. Berman, Chairman and CEO of JAKKS Pacific, highlighted the continued success of Sonic merchandise.
“Sonic movie products continue to be among our most popular lines year after year, underscoring just how beloved these characters are,” Berman said. “The Sonic brand resonates with fans of all ages, and we’re excited to build on that momentum with a new collection of toys, figures, and costumes that capture the spirit of this latest adventure.”
Shuji Utsumi, President and COO of SEGA Corporation, also emphasized the strength of the partnership.
“JAKKS Pacific has been an incredible partner, with their creativity, quality, and passion bringing Sonic the Hedgehog to life for fans around the world,” Utsumi said. “As we look ahead to Sonic the Hedgehog 4, we’re excited to continue building on that success together and deliver even more innovative designs for Sonic fans of all ages.”
The agreement also includes Disguise, JAKKS Pacific’s costume division, which produces licensed costumes and accessories distributed globally. With Sonic the Hedgehog 4 expected to introduce new characters and story elements, the costume lineup will expand alongside the film’s cast.
Since the first movie debuted in 2020, the Sonic film series has grown into one of Paramount’s most successful video game adaptations. With the fourth installment continuing the franchise’s expansion, the new partnership signals another major merchandising push leading up to the film’s release.
Products based on Sonic the Hedgehog 4 are expected to begin appearing at retailers and online stores worldwide in 2027.
