DC Announces DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion Five-Issue Sequel Launching May 2026

The worlds of DC and Sonic are officially colliding once again.

DC has announced DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion, a brand-new five-issue crossover set to launch on May 5, 2026. The sequel follows the success of 2025’s DC x Sonic event and continues the growing partnership between DC and SEGA.

The series is written by Ian Flynn and illustrated by Adam Bryce Thomas, the creative team behind the original crossover. The new storyline expands on threads introduced at the conclusion of last year’s run.

In Metal Legion, mysterious mechanical rings begin appearing across both the DC Universe and Sonic’s dimension. While Sonic the Hedgehog and the Justice League are initially excited to reunite, they soon realize their meeting has been orchestrated by a hidden enemy. A shadowy force is manipulating events from behind the scenes, threatening both worlds with potentially catastrophic consequences.

Issue #1 will span 32 pages and retail for $3.99, with cardstock variant covers priced at $4.99. The main cover is illustrated by Pablo M. Collar, with additional variant artwork by Adam Bryce Thomas, Serg Acuña, and Min Ho Kim.

The original DC x Sonic series was praised for its character pairings and alternate interpretations of Sonic characters in Justice League-inspired roles. Metal Legion is expected to expand the roster further, introducing additional Sonic heroes alongside DC mainstays for new team-ups and high-speed cross-dimensional action.

Arriving during Sonic’s 35th anniversary year, the sequel positions 2026 as another major milestone for the franchise across comics, games, and film.
