The days are starting to feel a lot like autumn. This month, I’m introducing a cool wallpaper illustration that perfectly matches the crisp, refreshing air♪
The star this time is the black hedgehog known as the “Ultimate Life Form.”
A solitary being who possesses both incredible combat abilities and a brilliant mind, Shadow!
A flawless stance and an unwavering gaze. You can feel the tension, as if he is warning someone, and he truly lives up to the title of “ultimate.”
Personally, what stands out to me is the red above his eyes rising sharply. It gives off both sophistication and sharpness, and a certain charm.
Shadow may share a similar silhouette with Sonic, but the aura he gives off is completely different.
When I draw him myself, I enjoy focusing on those design differences, like the shape of his quills or the fluff of his chest fur. Especially when finishing his air shoes, the sense of accomplishment is special. The senior artist who drew this illustration might have felt the same way.
In addition, the time-warping “Chaos Control,” the high-energy “Chaos Spear,” and his use of weapons and vehicles with the mindset of “using anything that works” make his fighting style uniquely appealing.
Since his striking debut in Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow has continued to show overwhelming strength while struggling with his sense of purpose and fate.
What really gave me chills was his line from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006):
“If the world chooses to becomes my enemy, I will fight like I always have!”
It was the moment that showed his resolve to live by his own will, overcoming his inner conflict.
Shadow has begun walking his own path, no longer bound by his past or his mission.
Maybe sometimes, he could use that power literally “for himself,” just once?
For example, on the day his favorite coffee beans are restocked—he could use “Chaos Control!” to warp right into the store the moment it opens!
But knowing how disciplined he is, he’d probably just arrive perfectly on time anyway♪
