The official social media accounts of Sonic have announced that the production of the Knuckles series, which will be exclusively available on Paramount+, is well underway in London. Although no release date has been announced, Variety has provided more information on the show’s cast and general synopsis.

The cast includes Adam Pally and Tika Sumpter, who will play their respective roles as Whade Whipple and Maddie Wachowski. Edris Elba will return as the voice of Knuckles the Echidna. Additionally, new actors Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi (AKA: Kid Cudi), Ellie Taylor, and Rory McCann, known for his role as ‘The Hound’ in Game of Thrones, will also join the cast, with more members to be announced at a later date.

The show will take place between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, during which Knuckles “agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.”

John Whittington, who worked on the screenplay for “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” wrote the pilot for “Knuckles” and serves as head writer and executive producer on the series. Brian Schacter and James Madejski are also writers, while Jeff Fowler, who directed both movies, will direct the pilot episode and executive produce the series. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara, all members of the films’ creative team, will serve as executive producers, along with Elba. Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker will direct episodes. Paramount Pictures and Sega of America are producing the series.
