Sonic Channel’s August Illustration Puts Shadow in the Spotlight With the Omochao Gun

This month’s commemorative illustration from Sonic Channel features none other than the Ultimate Life Form, Shadow the Hedgehog. The jet-black antihero with a troubled past but a heart of gold is back in the spotlight — this time with a comedic twist.

Shadow is no stranger to these monthly spotlights, being the second most popular character in the franchise, but August’s artwork takes a lighter tone. The illustration shows Shadow wielding the infamous Omochao Gun from his self-titled 2005 game, Shadow the Hedgehog, which will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary.

In the game, the Omochao Gun — also known as the Omochao Shooter — fires bullets that bounce off walls and objects, chaining between enemies up to two times. Players could unlock it by completing Cosmic Fall in Story Mode, with an upgraded version available by completing the stage again with the opposite mission. The enhanced weapon carried even more destructive power, making it one of the most memorable arms in Shadow’s arsenal.
