A brand-new concert celebrating the music of the Sonic the Hedgehog series has been announced as part of the franchise’s upcoming 35th anniversary celebrations in 2026!
SEGA has confirmed that “SONIC – LIVE! A Musical Odyssey of Sonic the Hedgehog” will take place on June 28, 2026 at Showa Women’s University Hitomi Memorial Hall in Tokyo. The event will feature live performances spanning the franchise’s history, revisiting iconic moments through both band and orchestral arrangements.

The concert will bring together a specially assembled live band and a full orchestra, allowing fans to experience Sonic’s music in a large-scale concert setting. Vocal themes and instrumental tracks from across the series will be performed alongside visual sequences highlighting memorable scenes from the franchise.
One of the first confirmed performers is Jun Senoue, the longtime Sonic composer and guitarist known for his work on many of the series’ rock-driven tracks. Senoue has contributed to numerous Sonic titles and is widely recognized for his performances with Crush 40, the band responsible for many of the franchise’s vocal themes.
Additional guest performers are expected to be announced closer to the event.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 18:00 JST, with doors opening at 17:00. Organizers estimate the show will run for approximately two hours and thirty minutes.
Ticket sales have already begun through an early lottery-based presale system. Fans can apply for the fastest advance ticket lottery through ePlus, which opened on March 16, 2026 at 18:00 JST and will remain available until March 23, 2026 at 23:59 JST.
Two ticket tiers are currently available:
• S Seats (with special bonus merchandise) – ¥16,000
• A Seats – ¥9,900
Both ticket options are reserved seating, and children under the age of three will not be admitted.
General ticket sales are scheduled to begin on April 11, 2026 at 12:00 JST, depending on availability after the presale lottery.
The event is organized by Promax with cooperation from SEGA and Wave Master, the label responsible for much of Sonic’s music catalog.
The concert forms part of the wider celebrations marking Sonic’s 35th anniversary, which will officially take place on June 23, 2026, commemorating the release of the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis.
With the anniversary fast approaching, events like SONIC – LIVE! A Musical Odyssey of Sonic the Hedgehog emphasize the importance of music in Sonic’s legacy, from orchestral soundtracks to high-energy rock anthems that have become some of the most recognizable tracks in gaming.
