A dedicated group of modders has released a new community project for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds that restores voices to several downloadable racers! The mod pack, titled Speak, DLC!, modifies the game’s audio system so previously silent characters can now deliver voice lines during races.

The mod is currently available for the PC version of the game and focuses on a range of crossover and guest racers introduced through post-launch downloadable content. Characters such as Rusty Rose, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Patrick Star are among those who can now speak during gameplay.

In addition to those racers, the current version of the mod includes voice support for several other DLC characters and crossover guests. These include characters from Sonic Prime, the IDW comic duo Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf, as well as crossover guests like NiGHTS, Joker, Ichiban Kasuga, and AiAi.

The project was developed by a collaborative group of modders including Doom Hat, Dead Line, memo_stardust, StormAtom33, and several other members of the Sonic modding community. According to the project’s documentation, the mod works by reworking existing sound effect banks in the game so they behave more like traditional voice banks.

Some of the included voice clips are sourced from previous official SEGA titles, while others have been newly recorded by community voice actors. The creators note that the current version works within the game’s existing audio framework, meaning it does not replace the announcer or introduce entirely new gameplay cues.

The team behind the project has also confirmed that further updates are planned. Future versions are expected to expand the voice lineup, refine character audio behavior, and add additional customization options.
