Paramount’s Sonic film franchise has officially found its Amy.
Kristen Bell has closed a deal to voice Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the next installment in the blockbuster series based on SEGA’s iconic games.
The casting follows Amy’s appearance in the mid-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where she rescued Sonic from an army of Metal Sonics, setting up her full introduction in the fourth film.
Bell joins returning voice cast members including Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. On the live-action side, Jim Carrey is expected to reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik, alongside James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Lee Majdoub.
Director Jeff Fowler returns to helm the fourth entry, continuing his run with the franchise since the first film. Producers Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara are also back on board. The film is currently scheduled for release on March 19, 2027.
Bell is widely known for voicing Anna in Disney’s Frozen films, and her addition continues Paramount’s pattern of casting high-profile talent for major roles in the Sonic universe.
The Sonic film series has collectively surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 becoming the highest-grossing entry in the franchise at over $490 million worldwide. With Amy Rose now officially stepping into the spotlight, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is set to expand the core cast even further.
Plot details remain under wraps, but with Metal Sonic teased and Amy confirmed, the stage is clearly set for a major new chapter in Sonic’s cinematic journey.
