At the commercial complex Hankyu Sanbangai in Umeda, Osaka, a major collaboration event titled “Soni × Puyo Festival in Hankyu Sanbangai” will run from February 1 through March 31, 2026, celebrating the 35th anniversaries of Sonic the Hedgehog and Puyo Puyo.

Throughout the two-month period, the entire complex will be decorated with colorful anniversary visuals featuring Sonic, the Puyo Puyo cast, and their friends. Photo spots will be placed across the venue, turning Hankyu Sanbangai into a themed celebration space that fans can explore while shopping or dining.

The UMEDA FOOD HALL will also join the collaboration, offering special menu items that come with original novelty goods. Guests who request eligible novelty-included menus will receive limited items such as coasters during February and food picks during March, with designs distributed at random while supplies last.

Interactive events are a major part of the festival. A layered stamp rally will be held on select February and March weekends, where visitors can collect stamps placed around the complex to complete a single piece of artwork and receive a sparkling original sticker. Separate Sonic and Puyo Puyo versions of the rally will be offered on different dates.

Game events will also take place, allowing attendees to try popular Sonic and Puyo Puyo titles on a large screen. These sessions include free participation, original sticker giveaways, and special stage appearances. On certain days, guests such as professional eSports casters, mascots, and comedians will appear for live segments.

Hands-on workshops and giveaway campaigns round out the experience. Visitors can create their own iron-print pouches using Puyo Puyo designs by presenting same-day receipts, while Sonic-themed drawstring bags will be distributed during select March dates. An Instagram follow campaign will also reward participants with exclusive clear files.

The collaboration ties directly into a wider set of Puyo Puyo 35th anniversary initiatives, including the launch of the “Dairensa!” project, anniversary visuals, a public livestream event on February 1, multiple POP UP STORE locations across Japan, and a SEGA Lucky Kuji planned for June 2026. Together, these projects form a coordinated anniversary push spanning events, merchandise, and live programming.
