Japanese publication CoroCoro Comic has confirmed that English-language editions of both the Shadow the Hedgehog manga and Sonic the Hedgehog & The Blade of Courage are currently in development.
The announcement was made alongside the Japanese release of the first volume of Sonic the Hedgehog & The Blade of Courage. CoroCoro stated that preparations for overseas editions of both titles are now actively underway. According to the magazine, the Shadow-focused manga is being prepared for English, French, and Spanish releases, while The Blade of Courage has been confirmed for an English edition.
To celebrate the release of The Blade of Courage Volume 1 and the overseas announcement, the manga’s writer and artist, Yuuki Imada, shared special commemorative illustrations online, acknowledging both milestones.
In an official statement shared by CoroCoro, the publication said:
“SONIC THE HEDGEHOG & The Blade of Courage” is out today!
Preparations for overseas editions of both this title and the previous “SHADOW” comic are also underway!
“SHADOW”comic: Preparations for English, French, and Spanish editions
“SONIC” comic: Preparations for English edition
While no release dates, publishers, or regional distributors have been announced yet, this confirmation is a major win for Sonic fans outside Japan. Both manga projects have generated strong interest domestically, and many international readers have been eagerly waiting for official translations rather than relying on summaries or unofficial scans.
For now, fans will need to be patient as more details are finalized, but the confirmation that translations are actively in progress is an exciting sign that these stories will soon reach a much wider audience.
Stay tuned to Sonic City for updates on release timing, publishers, and international availability as more information becomes available.
