Super Sonic Monthly #2 has arrived, and it is packed with lore, character deep dives and future teases straight from the IDW Sonic editorial team. This month’s community questions unlocked major insights into the direction of the series as it sprints toward Issue 100, including new arcs, returning characters and how fan favorites will evolve in the months ahead.

One of the biggest reveals is a Tangle and Whisper mini arc planned for the Road to 100. While there are no current plans for a standalone miniseries, the duo will take center stage in an upcoming storyline where they unravel the mystery behind the stolen Chaos Emeralds — who took them, why and how. Their bond and trust remain priorities for the writing team.

The editors also confirmed that locations referenced during the Metal Virus saga, such as Pine Grove Village and Cascade City, remain possibilities for future stories. Meanwhile, artists revealed that Vector is the most fun Chaotix member to draw thanks to his expressive face, even if his chains continue to be a challenge.

Sonic and Amy fans received an update as well. Their relationship will continue to develop thoughtfully, with Sonic showing more vulnerability and Amy growing further as a leader. Belle supporters can celebrate too as she plays a major role in Issues 84 to 86 and remains an important part of the cast.

Shadow fans also got clarity on why the Ultimate Lifeform was infected by the Metal Virus. According to the editors, Shadow’s arrogance and belief in his own invulnerability led him to rush into danger without considering the risk, leaving him open to infection.

One of the most exciting announcements is Sage’s long awaited introduction into the IDW universe. The editors teased a meaningful connection between Sage and Belle, rooted in their shared ties to Dr. Eggman but shaped by very different experiences and emotional perspectives.

The team also celebrated fan reactions to new characters like Soleil/Lunar, who has quickly become a standout thanks to expressive art and strong storytelling. Fans continue to submit artwork for potential publication as IDW’s back pages remain a showcase for community creativity.

Additional Q&A highlights include:

  • Roulette Road from Casino Park is poised to appear in the comics soon, offering a new game inspired location.
  • Tangle was chosen as the roommate most editors would want thanks to her upbeat and energetic personality.
  • Phantom Masked Rider is not slated to return, though Sonic may still have the costume.
  • Writers are not constrained by Sonic canon rules but view them as opportunities for creative problem solving.

Super Sonic Monthly #2 concludes with an exclusive preview of Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 83 arriving December 24, as well as a first look at Nathalie Fourdraine’s 1:15 retailer incentive cover for Issue 86. Preorders remain open for Issue 84 until December 15.

With more than two hundred fan questions still in queue, the next call for submissions will take place in a few months. Until then, this month’s edition offers a treasure trove of insight for readers eager to follow the expanding world of IDW Sonic.
