This month, I’ll be introducing a cool and sharp wallpaper illustration that fits perfectly with the crisp winter air.
The spotlight is on… Sonic’s powerful rival, whom Dr. Eggman proudly calls his greatest masterpiece!
It’s the ultra fast and ultra high performance combat robot, Metal Sonic!
The way his sharp claws spread wide and his stance sinks low is electrifying!
The shape of his hands looks as if he’s cutting through the air itself, with a presence so powerful it feels like nerves… no, circuits… run all the way to his fingertips. There’s such intensity that it seems like he might vanish from sight in the very next moment.
For Metal Sonic, who has no words or facial expressions, posing is everything when it comes to expressing his will. This illustration captures the tension that exists between stillness and motion, as if he’s drawn in the instant just before reaching top speed. That feels like the heart of the artwork to me.♪
Metal Sonic is a being created by Dr. Eggman for the sole purpose of defeating Sonic. He possesses the same speed and power as Sonic, and even looks just like him.
However, he is the complete opposite of Sonic, who runs freely and spontaneously. Metal Sonic focuses entirely on one purpose: to overwhelm Sonic with speed.
The way he repeatedly closes in with bursts of speed that sometimes even surpass Sonic can send a chill down your spine.
As Metal Sonic declared when he appeared as “Metal Overlord” in Sonic Heroes, the ultimate end of his obsession may be nothing less than surpassing the original and taking the place of the “true Sonic”…
He even talked about this in Sonic × Shadow Generations as well.
Metal Sonic’s overwhelming rivalry is always on the edge, and you just can’t take your eyes off him!
…That said, as a big Dr. Eggman fan, I still want to get closer to that frighteningly cool vibe!
First, I carefully study the refined functionality that Dr. Eggman loves so much, hoping to match those sharp claws. And if I were to give Metal Sonic a bit of nail care too, maybe we could become friends… huh?
I can already picture him suddenly shutting off his red eyes and slipping into sleep mode…
