According to well-known movie leaker DanielRPK, Paramount executives are rumored to be considering renaming the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 film to Sonic CD, referencing the 1993 SEGA CD title that the movie is believed to take cues from.
If true, the change would represent a notable shift in branding strategy for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie series, with SEGA and Paramount seemingly taking a similar approach to Nintendo’s upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
As of now, neither Paramount Pictures nor SEGA has officially commented on the rumor, and it remains to be seen whether Sonic CD will become the final title of the fourth Sonic the Hedgehog film.
