Sonic the Hedgehog is speeding back onto the pitch in a brand-new crossover event with Rocket League. Starting today, September 23, Psyonix has launched the Rocket League x Sonic the Hedgehog event, running until October 7 at 5 PM PT.
The event introduces the Sonic Spin limited-time mode (LTM), where players must dodge a fake homing ball that locks onto the nearest car while still trying to score with the real one. Getting hit by the fake ball instantly demos your vehicle, adding chaos to every match until a goal is scored.
A set of themed challenges will also be available, rewarding players with exclusive Sonic-inspired items including the Sonic Star Post antenna, Animal Capsule topper, Sonic Emblem avatar border, the “YOU’RE TOO SLOW” player title, Speedster wheels, and Land Smasher wheels. A repeatable challenge grants a level-up for every 10 online match wins.
On the cosmetics front, Sonic arrives in the Item Shop with the Porsche 918 Spyder + Sonic the Hedgehog Bundle. Priced at 2800 Credits, the pack includes the Porsche 918 Spyder car body, Porsche wheels, and four decals: Sonic, Super Sonic, Knuckles, and a standard Porsche livery. Additional items such as Spin Dash wheels, the Sonic Invincibility boost, and a Super Sonic goal explosion will also be sold separately.
Between the new game mode, unlockable rewards, and crossover cosmetics, Rocket League’s Sonic collaboration is shaping up to be one of the event highlights of Season 20.
The Rocket League x Sonic the Hedgehog event is live now and runs until October 7.
