Hot on the heels of the well-received LEGO Game Boy (72046), another retro gaming icon is getting the brick treatment. LEGO has officially revealed 40769 SEGA Genesis Controller, a set that recreates the legendary 16-bit controller in brick form.
The set contains 260 pieces and will be available starting September 8, 2025, seemingly as a gift-with-purchase. While LEGO has not confirmed the spending threshold required to qualify, more details are expected soon.
The Genesis Controller build isn’t just a static display piece. On the back of the model, fans will find a microscale Green Hill Zone scene, adding a playful surprise to the design. The set can be displayed in two different ways and even comes with regional stickers to customize the look.

This release continues LEGO’s celebration of classic video games, and for Sonic fans, it’s another nod to SEGA’s rich legacy from the 1990s. Between Sonic LEGO sets and now hardware-inspired builds, the collaboration shows no signs of slowing down.
What do you think of the LEGO SEGA Genesis Controller? Would you display it proudly in your collection, or head straight into Green Hill Zone?
