Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Open Network Test Begins August 29 with Special Joker Event

SEGA has confirmed that a limited-time Open Network Test for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will kick off later this month ahead of the game’s worldwide launch on September 25, 2025. The test runs from Friday, August 29 at 4:00 AM UTC through Tuesday, September 2 at 4:00 AM UTC on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games. Anyone can participate for free.

As a bonus, a special collaboration event called the “P5R Joker Festival” will take place from Sunday, August 31 at 4:00 AM UTC until Monday, September 1 at 4:00 AM UTC. During this period, you’ll be able to try out Joker from Persona 5 Royal along with his custom vehicle, the Arsène Wing, before their official release in the full game. SEGA has confirmed Joker and the Arsène Wing will later be added permanently via a free update.

Participation Rewards
Players who take part in the test will earn exclusive rewards that can be used in the final release, including:

• Sticker (machine decoration item)
• Title (in-game title)

Test Content
The Open Network Test will let you experience both offline and online play:

• Grand Prix – Race across four rounds, with total points deciding the winner.
• Time Trial – Take on the clock for the fastest completion time.
• World Match – Play online with friends or racers worldwide. Cross-play is supported across all platforms.
• Squads – Form a group of up to four and race together, though squads cannot limit play exclusively to their own members.

Online sessions are available during two windows:

• Aug 29 (Fri) 04:00 – Aug 31 (Sun) 04:00 UTC
• Sept 1 (Mon) 04:00 – Sept 2 (Tue) 04:00 UTC

Joker Festival Details
The Persona 5 Royal event splits players into three teams to compete for the highest total ranking points. Festival-exclusive rules, like bonus points for collecting rings, will appear during races. Festival Points can be earned to unlock limited-time stickers, horns, and other items, though progress will not carry over to the final version.
