Collider reports that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to outshine even the MCU with its post-credit scene surprises. At CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil, Paramount unveiled new footage from the film and confirmed that it will feature multiple post-credit sequences, stretching right to the “last second” of its 109-minute runtime. The producers emphasized at the event that fans should stay seated for the entire film.

The movie marks the return of Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), and Knuckles (Idris Elba), who are now allies facing their greatest challenge yet: Shadow the Hedgehog. Voiced by Keanu Reeves, Shadow is a fan-favorite character first introduced in Sonic Adventure 2 (2001) as an anti-hero and Sonic’s counterpart. Created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik, Shadow shares Sonic’s incredible speed and wields the ability to manipulate time and space using Chaos Emeralds, adding layers of depth and tension to the story.

Returning to direct is Jeff Fowler, who has helmed the franchise since its inception. Fowler also directed the Knuckles spin-off series for Paramount+, ensuring continuity within the Sonic cinematic universe. His involvement with the Sonic series dates back to earlier game projects like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06, and he was instrumental in Sonic’s redesign for the first movie.

Paramount’s dedication to enriching the Sonic franchise shines through, from reuniting fans with beloved characters to introducing icons like Shadow, who is expected to deliver both action and emotional resonance. With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 set to premiere on December 20, 2024, excitement is building. Fans can revisit the first two films, available for streaming on Paramount+, as they gear up for this epic sequel.
