In a report published by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, sound director Tomoya Ohtani ranked 10th and the song “Undefeatable” (feat. Kellin Quinn) from Sonic Frontiers ranked 15th in the “Popular Japanese Songs and Artists in the United States (2023)” category!

The report revealed that in 2023, J-Pop songs ranked among the top 10,000 tracks in the U.S. audio streaming charts accumulated 1.67 billion streams. This accounts for 0.14% of the total 1.2 trillion audio streams in the U.S. in 2023. The characteristics of J-Pop fans are as follows:

  • 63% are male
  • They are 95% more likely to be part of Generation Z compared to non-fans
  • They are 94% more likely to identify as LGBTQ compared to non-fans

In the U.S., among the top 20 popular Japanese songs, 11 are anime tie-ins. When it comes to artists, XG and Fujii Kaze are popular, although they don’t have anime tie-in tracks. It is also noted that not only new releases but also older tracks are frequently listened to.
