It’s been rumored that Sonic Heroes might receive an Unreal Engine 5 remake! Insider Midori (@MbKKssTBhz5), known for previously leaking the upcoming “Sonic Toys Party” and other mobile Sonic games, shared that SEGA is considering a remake, though development may not have started yet. Furthermore, there are currently no plans for Sonic Adventure or Sonic Adventure 2 remakes.
Fans have questioned SEGA’s choice of Sonic Heroes over the more anticipated Sonic Adventure remake. However, considering Sonic Heroes was the franchise’s best-selling 3D game before Sonic Frontiers, and considering some of the game’s technical issues, a remake could make sense for the development team to gain experience with a new game engine without the heavy expectations that come attached with an Adventure remake. Whether the remake will happen remains to be seen.
