Rouge the Bat (ルージュ・ザ・バット Rūju za Batto) is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She is an anthropomorphic bat and a skilled jewel thief who has also worked as a part-time government spy for the President of the United Federation and closely with the Guardian Units of Nations. Known as a world-famous treasure hunter, Rouge has a particular weakness for precious jewels such as the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds, which she obsesses over. Trained in combat, stealth, and infiltration due to her spy background, Rouge possesses super-level kicking power and the ability to fly.

Rouge is an enigmatic character, often leaving her true motivations in question. She typically acts in her own self-interest, displaying intelligence, sassiness, and seductiveness to achieve her goals. Once she sets her sights on a target, she pursues it relentlessly, regardless of the consequences. Despite her seemingly self-centered nature, Rouge has demonstrated loyalty to her closest friends and has aided Sonic the Hedgehog and his allies in saving the world on multiple occasions.
