According to a new report from insider Daniel Richtman, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will not include Silver the Hedgehog, the fan-favorite character known for his psychic abilities and time-traveling origins.
The upcoming fourth installment in Paramount Pictures and SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog film series is currently in development and scheduled for release on March 19, 2027. Directed once again by Jeff Fowler, the movie will follow the success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) and the spin-off series Knuckles (2024).
Silver first appeared in the 2006 video game Sonic the Hedgehog and quickly became a mainstay character thanks to his psychokinetic powers, which allow him to move objects with his mind. Many fans believed he would make his cinematic debut in Sonic 4, as the film is rumored to explore time-travel themes similar to the 1993 classic Sonic CD.
Richtman also previously reported that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 may adopt the title Sonic CD, drawing a direct connection to the SEGA CD platformer that introduced both Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, who appeared in the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
While neither Paramount nor SEGA has confirmed these details, the reported absence of Silver would be a notable omission for fans eager to see his first live-action appearance.
