SEGA has announced that a free demo of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available worldwide starting September 17, 2025, ahead of the game’s full release on September 25. The demo will let players experience core modes and features, with save data transferable to the retail version.

This follows last month’s open network test, which together with the closed network test surpassed 1 million downloads. Feedback for the open network test was overwhelmingly positive, with 94% of survey participants reporting satisfaction with the experience.

The demo will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. PC players will gain access one day later, on September 18 in Japan. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are not included.

Demo Content:

  • Characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy
  • Courses: 8 total (3 main tracks + 5 CrossWorlds tracks)
  • Machines: 12
  • Gadgets: 20

Players can compete in Grand Prix mode, test their skills in Time Trial, and explore machine and gadget customization. Save data from these modes will carry over to the full game, although Time Trial records and some user settings will not.

While the demo does not support online or local multiplayer, it still provides a robust first look at how the game plays. With the full version promising over 70,000 possible machine combinations, fans can already begin shaping their ideal ride.

With the strong reception to the network test, this new demo offers even more players the chance to see why Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Sonic racing titles ever.
