Sage to Officially Debut in Sonic the Hedgehog #84 in January 2026

After a brief tease, IDW has officially confirmed that Sage will make her long-awaited debut in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series with Issue #84, slated for release in January 2026. Her appearance not only marks a major addition to the comic’s cast but also signals a narrative shift — moving beyond the long-standing post-Sonic Forces status quo, as Sage appears in her post-Frontiers incarnation.

A new teaser image reveals the tagline: “She’s back, and she’s watching over him,” hinting at a continued connection between Sage and Dr. Eggman.

Alongside the announcement, IDW unveiled a new piece of artwork featuring Sage, Eggman, Metal Sonic, Sonic, and notably Belle, suggesting the fan-favorite puppet may play a role in the upcoming storyline. This key art will be available as a free poster at IDW’s booth (#2729) during San Diego Comic-Con.

While Sage’s first appearance is currently scheduled for January, release dates are subject to change due to the comic’s known scheduling shifts.
