The Game Gear Micro is a dedicated handheld video game console manufactured by Sega and released exclusively in Japan.[1] It is a miniature version of the original Sega Game Gear made in celebration of the console's thirtieth anniversary.
The Game Gear Micro is 80mm wide, 43mm tall and 20mm deep. There are four different versions of the Game Gear Micro: black, blue, yellow and red. Each version has four different games, ported by M2. The black and blue ones each feature one game from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
A limited quantity of the "Big Window Micro" accessory was available when all four versions were pre-ordered together. The accessory can be attached to the console to magnify the screen. A limited edition from Rakuten was available which contained all four consoles, pin badges of all sixteen games and a storage case with a sleeve design in the style of the original Game Gear box. There was also a special DX set was available which contained a fifth Game Gear Micro in transparent black, however, it is only for display. The DX set also comes with a display frame for all five consoles.
