Usage[edit source]

This template is used to italicize the titles of articles. This template has the following effects:

  • Page titles without parenthesis are fully italicized.
    • Sonic Chaos → Sonic Chaos
    • Talk:Sonic Chaos → Talk:Sonic Chaos
  • Page titles containing parenthesis are italicized before the first parenthesis:
    • Sonic Adventure (2010) → Sonic Adventure (2010)
    • Talk:Sonic Adventure (2010) → Talk:Sonic Adventure (2010)
  • The entire page title can be italicized with the "|all=yes" parameter
  • Desired parts of the page title can be italicized with the "|string=" parameter. For example, using "|string=Sonic X" in "List of Sonic X episodes" will result in "List of Sonic X episodes".

Errors[edit source]

Sometimes you may notice the following message at the bottom of the page:

Warning: Display title "<i>Article title (disambiguation)</i>" overrides earlier display title "<i>Article title</i> (disambiguation)".

This is because of there being another Italic title template or a DISPLAYTITLE magic word in the page. Some infoboxes add the Italic title template by default. The error message can be supressed by adding the "{{Italic title|noerror}}" somewhere after said infobox.
