After spending time with [[Amy Rose|Amy]] and [[Cream the Rabbit|Cream]] and meeting [[Sonic the Hedgehog|Sonic]] however, Blaze has discovered the true meaning of friendship, allowing her to accomplish tasks for the good of her people and the innocent which she could never do alone. ==Concept and creation==

Blaze was designed as a character who was equivalent yet an alternate version of Sonic's character. An undated concept of Blaze which was very similar to her final design except her eyes were rounder and her ponytail was turned front instead of back, she was supposed to wear clothing similar to the Arabs since she was wearing a shalwar and a midriff top.<ref>[[:File:BlazethecatConceptArt.jpg]]</ref>

According to the early character spreadsheet files of [[Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)|''Sonic the Hedgehog'' (2006)]] it is mentioned that Blaze wears a cape to hide her flames because she was teased. However, the games have never shown her wearing a cape besides her purple outfit. This was later clarified by the concept artwork gallery in the [[Nintendo 3DS]] version of ''[[Sonic Generations]]'' where one of the pictures showed Blaze wearing a white and pink laced cape.

==Appearance==

Blaze is a slim, lavender-furred anthropomorphic cat with golden eyes with two long eyelashes each, a small black nose, and a white-furred muzzle. She has triangular ears with peach-colored canals on top of her head, and a long tail with the end frayed and violet. Her fur is longer on each side of her head and sweeps slightly upwards, and she has four plumes of hair with violet tips tied-up into a high ponytail by a red hair tie. She also has a red oval gem on her forehead.

For attire, Blaze wears a gold collar hanging from her neck, a purple tailcoat with rose trim at the bottom, white leggings, white gloves and high-heeled rose ankle boots, as both of them have white fluffy cuffs on them. Her boots also featured a thick white stripe on each of the front, and gray soles and heels.

Because of her past and strong sense of responsibility, Blaze has developed a habit of being self-reliant.<ref name="SonicXBlaze" /> This has led her to build up walls between her and other people, making her anti-social, withdrawn, and shy. As a result, she would bottle up her secret feelings, leaving herself in inner turmoil. She also lacks in social skills and has a hard time opening up and talking to people. She was also initially wary and curt towards strangers and frequently rejected offers to help, even becoming defensive and angry. This attitude also made her somewhat selfish as she berated Sonic's offers to help and eventually ended up fighting him.

After interacting with [[Cream the Rabbit|Cream]], [[Amy Rose|Amy]] and [[Sonic the Hedgehog|Sonic]], Blaze has mellowed out considerably socially wise,<ref name="SonicXBlaze" /> making her more amiable, friendly, and gentle towards others. She also came to understand the true meaning of friendship, making her willing to trust and accept help from others. While she still prefers handling things on her own and remains somewhat reclusive, she will accept her friends' help and is genuinely grateful for their aid. Recently, she is seemingly much more sociable, participating in Sonic's and later Amy's birthday parties simply for the sake of friendship, and is much quicker to open up and relax in front of her friends.

Blaze is very honest and almost blunt when dealing with annoyances such as [[Marine the Raccoon|Marine]]. During the [[Jeweled Scepter]] [[Sonic Rush Adventure|incident]], she tried to leave Marine behind on missions due to Marine's risky behavior and even went far enough to hurt her feelings by calling her a 'nuisance' to keep her from coming along with her on a dangerous mission to [[Pirates' Island]]. This caused Marine to go after the pirates without Sonic, [[Miles "Tails" Prower|Tails]], or Blaze. Sooner rather than later, Marine was captured by them. Blaze also had a rather bad habit of getting over-confident in threatening people to whom she thinks "deserves" it. This was most notably shown during the Jeweled Scepter incident.

Blaze sometimes has a tendency to judge others poorly and see less value in others. Notably, she expected no one to know that their worlds were in great danger during the Sol Emerald [[Sonic Rush|incident]] but was proven wrong when Sonic and Tails were also aware. Her poor judgment of others led her to have a [[Sonic (Sonic Rush)|fight]] with Sonic and misjudge Cream until she realized how helpful she was.

However, she eventually warmed up to the concept of friendship and became more sociable and positive as a result of her new relationships. With her pyrokinesis, Blaze can conjure up flames for various offensive effects, the most basic maneuvers of which involve turning herself into a tornado of fire by spinning around. In line with her graceful nature, Blaze is as well incredibly athletic considering her impressive dexterity and nimbleness when executing her various ballerina-like moves. In combat, Blaze makes use of her own type of hand-to-hand combat skills. In fact, many of Blaze's moves focus on graceful and delicate movements similar to ballerina moves to strike precise and hard blows. When attacking, she tends to use her feet when launching physical blows. Also, most of her fighting moves rely heavily on her pyrokinesis. By using her pyrokinesis in conjunction with her attacks, Blaze can create unique and dynamic moves that deal destructive damage to her targets. In the IDW Comics, Blaze has the power of pyrokinesis. This allows her to control fire in different shapes and forms. She can extinguish flames as well as create them from her own body, allowing her to create tornadoes and beams of fire that vary in size. She can as well envelope herself in fire to perform moves like the [[Fire Boost]], in which she charges herself as a burning projectile at her opponents with increased speed provided by the propulsion.
