[[Sally Acorn (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)|Sally]] and [[Nate Morgan (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)|Nate Morgan]] with the [[Freedom Fighters (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)|Freedom Fighters]] are traveling from Mobotropolis to the [[Angel Island (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)|Floating Island]] with Sonic as Knuckles on board. [[Nicole (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)|Nicole]], Sally, and Nate still do not believe that Sonic is trapped in Knuckles' body, so they travel to the Floating Island, but are attacked by missiles and come crashing down to [[Echidnaopolis]]. Meanwhile In Echidnaopolis, the Dark Legion are attacking Knuckles and [[Julie-Su]]. Knuckles unable to glide in Sonic's body uses his speed and finds the crashed [[Freedom Fighter Special]]. Sonic, Knuckles, Julie-Su and the Freedom Fighters take down the robots and some members of the Dark Legion, but they are stopped by holographic projections of Dr. Robotnik and Dimitri. Dr. Robotnik commands that either Sonic and Knuckles surrender themselves to them, or they will forever be stuck in each other's bodies. Dr. Robotnik and Dimitri teleport them to their base and show them the '[[Chaos-Cannon]]', which requires the [[Master Emerald (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)|Master Emerald]] as a power source, and upon activation and will blast the [[Great Forest]], turning it entirely into metal. Sonic and Knuckles head to the [[Shrine Isle (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)|Chaos Chamber]] making it look like they're about to steal it, but destroy the spying device and bring Dr. Robotnik and Dimtri a fake version of the Master Emerald. The cannon is destroyed by the sabotage and Sonic and Knuckles are restored to their own bodies from touching the Master Emerald. While Sonic fights Robotnik, Knuckles battles Dimitri, who unfortunately manages to teleport away. Dr. Robotnik self-destructs, revealing him to merely be a robot duplicate of the original Robotnik. Knuckles states that next time he'll get to defeat the villains, to which Sonic replies that in that case, he'd better start wishing he were a hedgehog again. Kintobor builds Sonic a massive mech known as [[Giant Robotno]] which is powered by Sonic's speed. Sonic flies the mech to Knothole Island, but is confronted by mutated versions of [[Sally-Zilla|Sally]], [[Tails-Zilla|Tails]], [[Knuckles-Zilla|Knuckles]], [[Amy-Zilla|Amy]] and [[Rotor-Zilla|Rotor]].
