It's a pity, as I would have very much liked greater insight into Gerald and Maria's lives too.

— Professor Victoria, Gerald Robotnik's Journal

Professor Victoria, nicknamed Professor Tori (プロフェッサートリィ Purofessā Toryi?), is a character introduced in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. A human researcher, historian, and author, she made her debut in the first episode of TailsTube, later making a cameo appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Professor Tori is distinguished by her pink hair and signature yellow hairpin, which make her an easily recognizable figure within the series.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Professor Victoria is an adult human female of average height, distinguished by her vibrant magenta hair and blue eyes. Her striking appearance is further enhanced by a yellow hairpin and taffy-pink eye shadow. Her hair, short and styled into rounded, ball-like shapes on either side of her head, contributes to her unique and recognizable look.

Her outfit consists of a brown vest with yellow linings and white stripes that run from the shoulders to the sleeves and along the vest's bottom edge. Horizontal yellow stripes on the shoulders add a touch of detail to her ensemble. The vest features partially rolled sleeves, secured with yellow-buttoned cuffs. She complements this with gloves adorned with yellow-lined bracelets that match the vest's accents.

Under the vest, Professor Victoria wears a darker brown long-sleeve shirt, which includes a white line down the center and along the bottom hem. Her pants, coordinated to match the brown tones of her vest and gloves, complete her well-put-together and stylish appearance.

History[edit | edit source]

TailsTube[edit | edit source]

Professor Victoria made her debut in TailsTube #1 (feat. Sonic), during a segment explaining the presence of humans in the Sonic universe. She was confirmed to be a new character by Ian Flynn[1], showcasing a distinct art style that sets her apart from the humans depicted in Sonic Unleashed.

She reappeared in TailsTube #10 (Happy New Year), where her authored book, The Mystery of History, was prominently featured.[2]

Shadow Generations[edit | edit source]

Some time before the events of Shadow Generations, Professor Victoria meticulously compiled the surviving pages of Professor Gerald Robotnik's personal journal. She subsequently submitted this compilation to Commander Abraham Tower, who sought concrete evidence regarding the ARK incident from 50 years prior.

Other Appearances[edit | edit source]

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (movie)[edit | edit source]

Professor Tori's cameo appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, featuring her name in Japanese and text reading "12.30.24 START!"

In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Victoria makes a brief cameo, being seen in the background on an electronic billboard in Tokyo when Shadow fights Team Sonic. On the billboard are the words "Professor Toryi", written in Japanese (プロフェッサートリィ), "Toryi" being the Japanese identity of the one known only as "T" in the English translation of Robotink's journal[3].

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • After her debut in TailsTube #1, fans speculated extensively about the identity of the purple-haired lady, who stood out as the first human introduced since Sonic Unleashed and was drawn in a style distinctly different from the other humans she appeared alongside. When fans inquired about her identity, Ian Flynn cryptically replied with "#KnowingSmile." [4]
  • For years, the character did not reappear or receive any direct references. This changed with the release of Gerald Robotnik's Journal alongside Shadow Generations. In-universe, the journal was recovered by someone identified only as "T" in a letter addressed to Abraham Tower. Interestingly, in the Japanese version of the journal, this figure was explicitly named "Tori" (トリー).
  • A TV spot for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 later featured a cameo of Victoria on a Tokyo billboard. Her Japanese name, "Professor Tori" (プロフェッサートリィ), was displayed alongside the date "12-30-24." While nothing about the character was revealed on that date, the next day, during TailsTube #10, she was officially introduced with her localized name, "Professor Victoria."
